Two approaches to the same handoff
SpringRoll takes an existing app from its coding agent to a recorded release, managed deployment and App Portal launch link. Direct to Production is the default; administrators can configure staged approval.
Island's published workflow starts with an app already deployed on its hosting platform. An admin reviews it, attaches policy and publishes it to an app library. Island's publishing layer distributes and governs access; it does not host the app itself.

| Decision | SpringRoll | Island Enterprise Vibe Publishing |
|---|---|---|
| Where the app runs | SpringRoll-managed Vercel or Cloudflare deployment. | App remains on its hosting platform. |
| Builder handoff | Coding agent connects through the skill or MCP; release and deployment are recorded. | User submits a hosted app for admin review and publication. |
| Employee discovery | App Portal with access-checked SpringRoll launch links. | Central app library, homepage and browser surfaces. |
| Access boundary | Portal launch checks; direct provider hostname needs its own protection. | Browser enforcement through Island Browser or an extension for third-party browsers. |
| Data control focus | Approved app data-product grants along the gateway path. | Browser policy and presentation-layer data protection, with private-resource access described by Island. |
When SpringRoll fits
Consider SpringRoll when you already build with Codex, Claude Code or Cursor and want a managed deployment route plus a place for the team to find the result. It brings ownership, releases, workflow decisions and scoped data-product requests into the handoff.
Check the app's runtime fit and direct-origin protection. App Portal access is not equivalent to Island's browser enforcement.
When Island fits
Consider Island when browser-enforced policy and distribution of hosted apps are central to your plan. Its sources describe an admin review, an app library and controls in Island Browser or its third-party-browser extension.
Confirm the required browser or extension rollout and app-hosting setup with Island. Its product page describes presentation-layer data protection and private access; evaluate those against your team's specific requirements.
Evaluate with one app
Use the same synthetic app to compare the owner experience, release process, employee discovery and allowed or denied access. Check direct-host access separately from the normal user entry route.
The comparison describes documented approaches, not a performance benchmark, pricing comparison or claim that either product meets every enterprise requirement. Ask each team to demonstrate your actual app and policy needs.
